Happy Black History Month

Tomorrow is the last day of Black History Month, so of course I had to do an all black look! I am not connected to my cultural origins yet, so I didn't want to dress in African garb, but as an African American, I felt certain that black was the color to celebrate in.
All month, I’ve been moving in the feels of love and proudness of being black. I literally wrote “Happy Black History Month” on my job’s email with corporate because its something to be celebrated. I’m not aggressively trying to shove it down anyone’s throat, but I stand proud in the fact I come from a culture that originated from the motherland and will celebrate it.
I’m fighting with myself to not say “I’m proud to be black” so many times, but that’s all I can think of. I am in love with every aspect that comes with this melanin rich skin and I love my people. I stand with my people and I pray for my people, day after day because life is hard, but thankfully we are resilient. We are strong and when we are challenged to break, we simply bend. Being black in 2018 is not for the weak, but God gives the hardest tasks to the strongest soldiers.
There’s so much I can say about black people, but I won’t. I don't want to. I’m truthfully not sure how to put it all into words without sounding pretentious or dumbing down my feelings. It's a complex thing to discuss for me because its something I don’t think would be articulated as well through a computer screen. It doesn't do it justice or hold as much power. I lied, words are powerful, however I don't have the words to formulate what I want to say. I’m going to close with a simple request that you tell the next black person you see Happy Black History Month.

P.S. If you haven’t, go see Black Panther. It is a GOOD movie with a beautiful cast and give such a good feeling to all viewers! #WakandaForever
