Falling for Basics

When I was getting ready, I decided to dress in something that was very Sydney and also transitional, considering we JUST transitioned into the fall season. Since fall is my fave season ever, I wanted to wear one of my fave clothing pieces and that would be a white button down shirt. They're so versatile and I believe that EVERYONE should have a few in their closet. You can dress them up and down, and they also serve as business tops. What more could you want?

This top is indeed a white button down, with a little twist I was able to add to it thanks to Skylar Marshai. I literally LOVE the look of it because it looks like a completely different shirt and really provided some sass to a rather simple outfit. Per her instructions, I simply folded the collar down and buttons in. I kept it open a bit because I like the deep v look, but buttoned two buttons mid way and tied the rest. Ta-da!

Both the top and jeans come from the GAP, who is my go-to for basics. They will last a long time and they’re quality, which is what a young woman needs for a growing closet. These are currently my favorite jeans I own and I love the fit; They are straight leg, which is a change from the usual skinny style I wear.

To keep things fun, I focused on having a little heel flair and chose to wear these Aldo heels. The stripes are navy and white, but they have black fringe on the heel, which I used as an anchor color. I went with a black belt and black bag in order to move away from my beloved silver that I always wear. Each had silver trimming though and I went ahead with a silver and turquoise jewelry set and watch!
